Starting something

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Bis-millaahir-Rahmani-r-Rahim

Translation: In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Kind.

Greeting a Muslim

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ

‘As-salaamu alai-kum

Translation: Peace be with you.

Replying to greeting

وَ عَلَيْكُمُ السَّلَامُ

Wa-alai-kumu-s-salaamu

Translation: And peace be upon you.

Waking up in the morning

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَ إِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ

‘Al-hamdu li-Llaahi-l-Ladhi ‘Ahyaa-naa ba’da maa amaatana wa- ilaihi-n-nushur

Translation: Praise be to Allah, He Who revived us to life after giving us death, and unto Him we shall return.

When seeing beauty of the morning

أَصْبَحْنَا وَ أَصْبَحَ الْمُلْكُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

‘Asbah-naa wa ‘asbaha-l mulku li-Llaahi Rabbi-l-‘Aalamin

Translation: We enter upon the morning, and so does the creation of Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.

When entering the bathroom

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ. اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُبِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَ الْخَبَائِثِ

Bis-millahi. Allahumma inni ‘a’udhu bi-ka minal-khubuthi wa-l-khabaa’ithi

Translation: In the name of Allah. O Allah! I seek refuge in you from the foul male and female devils.

When leaving the bathroom

غُفْرَانَكَ، اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَذْهَبَ عَنِّي الْأَذَى وَعَافَانِي

Ghufraana-ka, Al-hamdu li-Llaahi-l-Ladhi Adhaba anni-l-Adhaa wa-afaani

Translation: Your pardon O Allah! Praise be to Allah Who caused harm to go away and gave me relief.

Entering masjid

اَللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ

Allahumma iftah li abwaaba Rahmati-ka

Translation: O Allah! Open for me doors of Your Mercy.

When leaving masjid

اَللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ

Allahumma iftah li abwaaba Rahmati-ka

Translation: O Allah! Open for me doors of Your Mercy.

When ready to go outdoors

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ

Bismillah, tawakkaltu ala Allahi, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah

Translation: In the Name of Allah, I rely on Allah, and there is no might or power except that (allowed) by Allah.

We should visit sick people and pray to Allah to make them well

أَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ الْعَظِيمَ رَبَّ الْعَرْشِ أَنْ يَشْفِيَكَ

As'alu-Llaha-l- Azima Rabba-l-Arshi un yushfik

Translation: I ask Allah, the Al-Mighty, Lord of the Throne, to cure you.

After sneezing

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَلَى كُلِّ حَالٍ

Al-hamdu li-Llahi ala kulli Haal

Translation: Praise be to Allah under all circumstances.

When hearing someone sneeze, say

يَرْحَمُكَ اللَّهُ

Yarhamu-ka Allah

Translation: May Allah have Mercy on you.
